Consultation

Public consultation is a crucial component of the pre-application process for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).

We are committed to early and continuous engagement to ensure that the development of our proposals for East Pye Solar is informed and shaped by community input. Local communities, residents, and councils play a vital role in this process.

The design process for the Scheme will be iterative and will be informed by feedback received during the two stages of community consultation that are planned for the Scheme.

Overview of consultation stages

  • We held an initial phase of community consultation that ran for six weeks from 23 October to 6 December 2024.

The aim of this consultation was to introduce Island Green Power and the overall Scheme, and share our earl-stage proposals for East Pye Solar to give people the opportunity to share their views and local knowledge.

Feedback to this consultation helped us understand those aspects of the proposed development which people want us to prioritise as we continue to evolve the design for the Scheme.

You can find out more about this first phase of consultation here.

  • We are now carrying our Phase Two ‘statutory’ consultation on our updated proposals for the Scheme, having further developed the early-stage proposals presented during the non-statutory (Phase One consultation) held last year. Since this first phase of consultation, we have continuously engaged with all stakeholders through multiple communication channels, in person meetings and proactive communications.

Our Phase Two consultation will run for seven weeks from Wednesday 18 June to Wednesday 6 August 2025, with in-person and online information events running throughout July. Details of our events can be found on the Information Events webpage.

This is a statutory phase of consultation as required by the Development Consent Order process for NSIP applications. Further information about what we are seeking feedback on can be found on the Have Your Say webpage.

Once the consultation has closed, we will have regard to the feedback we receive and consider all comments during the ongoing Scheme design process.

  • Ahead of Phase Two consultation taking place, we have worked with South Norfolk Council and Norfolk County Council to develop a Statement of Community Consultation (SoCC). This sets out how we engage with and obtain feedback from local communities and interested parties on our detailed proposals for the Scheme. The SoCC is now available for you to view on our Documents webpage linked here.

As the applicant, we have a duty to demonstrate how we have taken your views into account in developing our final proposals for the Scheme. The application we submit to the Planning Inspectorate will include a Consultation Report summarising all issues raised in feedback to consultation along with an explanation of how we have taken views into account to develop our final proposals.

This Report, along with the other application documents will be published on the Planning Inspectorate’s website should our application be accepted for examination. Register your details with us here to be notified directly when this information is available to vie, and whenever more information on the Scheme is made available.
