Consultation
Public consultation is a crucial component of the pre-application process for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
We are committed to early and continuous engagement to ensure that the development of our proposals for East Pye Solar is informed and shaped by community input. Local communities, residents, and councils play a vital role in this process.
The design process for the Scheme will be iterative and will be informed by feedback received during the two stages of community consultation that are planned for the Scheme.
Overview of consultation stages
-
We held an initial phase of community consultation that ran for six weeks from 23 October to 6 December 2024.
The aim of this consultation was to introduce Island Green Power and the overall Scheme, and share our earl-stage proposals for East Pye Solar to give people the opportunity to share their views and local knowledge.
Feedback to this consultation helped us understand those aspects of the proposed development which people want us to prioritise as we continued to evolve the design for the Scheme.
You can find out more about this first phase of consultation here.
-
Ahead of Phase Two consultation taking place, we have worked with South Norfolk Council and Norfolk County Council to develop a Statement of Community Consultation (SoCC). This sets out how we engage with and obtain feedback from local communities and interested parties on our detailed proposals for the Scheme. The SoCC is now available for you to view on our Documents webpage linked here.
As the applicant, we have a duty to demonstrate how we have taken your views into account in developing our final proposals for the Scheme. The application we submitted to the Planning Inspectorate in March 2026 includes a Consultation Report, which summarises all issues raised in feedback to consultation along with an explanation of how we have taken views into account to develop our final proposals.
This Report, along with the other application documents will be published on the Planning Inspectorate’s website should our application be accepted for examination. You can register to be kept informed by the Planning Inspectorate here, who will provide updates on the status of the Application and Examination process.

Our Phase Two (statutory) consultation ran for seven weeks from Wednesday 18 June to Wednesday 6 August 2025.
The purpose of this statutory stage of consultation was to present our updated proposals for East Pye Solar and give local communities and interested parties the opportunity to provide their views on how the plans have evolved since the initial consultation we held last year.
Over the course of the seven-week consultation, we held six in-person events and one online event, welcoming over 550 people. We also met with individuals and organisations to understand first-hand their concerns and answer any questions.
We are really pleased with the significant level of engagement and responses we have received over the course of the consultation. We would like to thank everyone who took part, including those who have taken the time to provide feedback.

Between Wednesday 22 October and Wednesday 26 November 2025, we consulted on a series of specific changes to the proposals for East Pye Solar.
These changes were informed by further design work and due diligence, ongoing consideration of consultee feedback, and findings from the ongoing environmental assessments. The changes consulted on can be found in the Scheme’s Information Change Note.
We would like to thank everyone who took time to participate and share their views with us.
